The exact tools I use to trade futures

Charting

1 tool
Top pick

TradingView

Best for: Multi-timeframe futures charting with a huge indicator library

I've tried a dozen charting platforms and always come back to TradingView. Pine Script alerts alone save me hours — I set key levels once and let it notify me instead of staring at screens. It syncs across laptop, desktop, and phone, so my workspace is always there.

Prop Firm

Apex Trader Funding

Best for: Funded futures accounts with one of the highest payouts in prop trading

I use Apex because the rules are clear and the payout structure is genuinely competitive. If you're already consistent in sim, the evaluation is straightforward enough to pass without changing your strategy. Frequent payouts make the psychological side much cleaner.

Broker / Platform

Tradovate

Best for: Commission-free futures execution with direct prop-account integration

Tradovate is what I use to actually execute. The membership pricing saves a lot versus per-contract fees, the charts are fast enough for scalping, and it connects directly to funded accounts so the whole setup is seamless.

Market Data / News

Market Data

GexBot

Best for: Real-time Gamma Exposure (GEX) data to anticipate support/resistance

GEX changed how I read the market. Instead of watching price in isolation, I layer in dealer positioning so I know where the market finds friction or gets pushed through. It's context, not a signal — but alongside a clean setup it gives me conviction I didn't have before.

Frequently asked questions

Are these affiliate links?

Some links are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a commission if you sign up through them — at no extra cost to you. I only list tools I personally use and trust. See the full disclosure.

How do you decide what makes the list?

Everything here is in my current active stack, or has been tested against it. I add tools when I genuinely adopt them and write an honest review — including the drawbacks. Nothing is ranked higher for paying me more.

Is Apex Trader Funding legit?

Yes — it's an established funded-futures prop firm with a real track record. As with any prop firm, read the rules carefully and understand you can lose your evaluation fee. See my full Apex review.

Do I need to pay for TradingView?

The free plan covers a lot. I use a paid plan for multi-chart layouts and more indicators. Start free, upgrade when you hit limits — details in my TradingView review.

Should I follow your trades?

No. I share analysis for educational context only. Nothing here or on my X account is financial advice. Futures trading carries substantial risk of loss.
